This is a picture belonging to my friend, Lisa. It's a relative of hers, although she doesn't know who. I  imagine that this could be the first picture ever taken of Maggie, looking at the shock on her face!

I'm tempted to do a bit of research on this lady. So far, I've found someone with the same name and  year of birth in Canada. This photo was taken in London.

A very 1920s lady

I love this picture- it's unusual to see a larger lady in old photographs, but I think she proves that anyone can be a flapper!

On the roadside

I've tried, rather inexpertly, to make this photo clearer- it's tiny and grainy. There's something rather charming about this woman waiting for the bike to be fixed.

Relaxing

Often with some of these photos, I can never actually tell what is happening in them, they're so tiny.  This to me looks like she's reading. The photo itself is tiny.

I have another picture of this lady in her strange looking dress. It's a bit too shiny to be completely comfortable, I think. Any ideas about fabric, time period or who she might be would be welcome!

Joan at a wedding

Joan is the blonde lady on the right- I have quite a few pictures of her (I suppose her photo albums ended up all scattered in the same shop.) Helpfully, they usually contain some information about her.

This postcard is from a photography studio in Paris, A. Noyer, which published postcards of all kind of subjects between 1910-1940.  The hand-tinting is a trademark of the Noyer studios.

Rouen lady

A strange Victorian photograph

This is definitely a Victorian photo, but lots about it puzzle me... who is the girl? Why is she in two photos? What is the necklace? Also, it's a very thin material stuck onto some old cardboard- it doesn't feel like a normal photo. Any suggestions/ideas/answers are welcome!

New term

I have no idea who these ladies are, but I think that they look like teachers, so I think it's a fitting picture for the first day of the new school year.

The harvesters

I think that this is a perfect picture for the first day of September... there's an address in  County Durham on the back, but it was never sent. I also like this because it shows work that perhaps doesn't happen in the same way any more.
